Changing default vertical line options

When I use the default vertical bracket, I find that the horizontal line is sometimes too close to the staff line, and I have to adjust it. Here in beat 2 of bar 1 I used the properties panel to mov the top position +1 and in beat 2 of bar 2 I moved the bottom position -1.

There’s no way to get these by default that I can see? Or am I missing something? I guess it’s hard because even if there were a global setting, I would want to apply it only to the position occupied by a note on a staff space (as here); the positioning for notes occupying a staff line is good.

But even absent that complication, I don’t seem to find default settings for vertical lines anywhere.

Indeed, there are no default settings for this. I agree it would be nice to have some intelligence about how to position the hooks on the ends of vertical lines according to the staff position at which the hook ends. It’s on the long list of things we plan to add in future.
