Changing duration of a voiced tied note

I think this might be a duration/tying problem?

How do you change the last f to a half note?

If the last f is selected, both f notes are selected I guess since they’re tied, can’t isolate the last one. My thinking is if I want to change the last f to a half note, I guess I need a duration of a half + an eighth, I don’t think that’s possible?

The top a and b are forced upstems.

A possible way if the parts of the tied note are in different voices

1. Select the tied note.
2. Press u to untie it.
3. Select the crotchet/quarter note.
4. Press 7.
5. Select both the last quaver/8th note and the half note by holding SHIFT.
6. Press t.

Or – simpler – if the notes are in the same voice just select the note and press
SHIFTALT/OPTION → until the desired duration is reached.

Thanks. I thought about undoing the tie, but got a bit in the weeds with the voicings.
