I’m unable to get the sfz at the end to playback (VSL solo cello).

On the other hand do you have a suggestion to offer?
In some interpretations the sfz is an accent rather than a dynamic. The program may be getting confused, or Dorico may not be able to interpret an accented tied note. One could find out by replacing the sfz with an accent or marcato articulation to see. If that didn’t work, I might try replacing the final tie(s) with a slur to see if that would coax Dorico into giving the final chord an extra push.
The truth is that there are still things live players can understand and perform that computers may not be programmed to do. I am hoping some folks acquainted with different VST’s will chip in if they have found one that will replicate the “stinger” effect you want here.
Adding an accent at the end of a tie chain is itself a separate issue. In any case this effect was supported in Finale. The fact that one can not easily act on intermediate notes in the chain seems to me an unnecessary limitation.
Yes, the problem is the playback.
