Changing length of multiple cues at the same time

I do many pop/jazz-orchestral scorings. There’s almost always a click instrument in first two bars and cues of that click goes to all instruments.

As it is ~2 minutes to import the “house style” through the Library Manager window (and the Layouts are the most boring and long-running part!), we do the other option - start all the scorings beginning with altering the previously finished song.

Unfortunately we have cues of the click on first 2 bars in every part. So if the user removes bars from 3rd to the end of the flow, and then adds eg 200 bars, the cues of the click extends to the bar 202.

AFAIK, shortening the cues is only possible with Ctrl+Alt+(Shift)+Left arrow (200 times). For the 100 bars it lasts almost half an hour on my i7-5820k/64 GB RAM. At the same time CPU is ~50% busy. I couldn’t find a way to do it faster (except for deleting all the cues and creating them once more which is also time consuming as I have various properties for various instruments).

Any idea to set the existing cue length with a simpler method?

How about deleting the cues and then copying and pasting from the previous song? In a quick test, this seems to work for me if the files have the same players, although I’m sure there are lots of variables that could screw it up.

You might also consider a change to your workflow. Here are three suggestions.

  • Take an existing song, and delete bars 4+. Delete all music in bar 3. Save as a project template, and preserve existing flows. Now when you start a new project from that template, you have all of your 2-bar cues in place, plus an empty third bar. When you add bars after the third bar, the cue length remains at 2 bars. (You could also do this on a per-song basis, without saving as a template.)
  • Starting in your existing song, delete bars 3+. Shorten the existing cues so they are less then 2 bars long. Add 200 bars, then lengthen the cues back to 2 bars.
  • Starting in your existing song, delete bars 3+. Cut the existing cues (Ctrl/Cmd+X), add 200 bars, then paste the cues back in.
