Hello! I have a question. I started writing a score for instrumental ensemble in portrait orientation and then I changed it to horizontal because I saw that it would be better. The problem is that then all the staves are tight and it’s as if the program didn’t do the automatic spacing, as it did when it was vertical… Do you know how I can automatically redistribute everything once I’ve changed the page orientation?
I hope I explained it well…
Thanks!
Hi @mdp842 , changing the orientation of the page, changes the fullness of the music frame, so that the default thresholds defined in Layout Options/Vertical Spacing/Vertical Justification affect the spacing differently.
Don’t worry if this sounds incomprehensible to you for now .
Here a very useful video to go deeper into Dorico layout concepts:
A general suggestion: write first all your music in your project (eventually using Galley view ), and don’t think about lay-outing or spacings, till all the music, dynamics etc. are entered. Dorico will solve the spacing automatically. If, in a further stage of your project, you have further questions (with a concrete Dorico file example) please ask again and you will be answered more specifically.
Make sure you haven’t locked systems to frames with frame breaks.
Thank you @Christian_R , I will take a look to this guide.
