Changing selection?

Hello,

many times after making a selection I want to make it a bit smaller (because of changing my mind or making it too big by mistake). I have found that I can easily extend the selection, but not how to make it smaller. How is this done?

For now I am just clearing the selection and starting over, but I feel that there should be a better way.

You might try and use the undo function. When you select an entire section, if the first note (or object) you select is good, undoing the selection (i.e. shift clicking on a wrong object) should keep you the beginning of the selection highlighted, and you can shift-select another object. But if the beginning of the selection was wrong, this tip does not apply.
