Changing tempo changes the audio

I’m on Cubase Artist 13 - PC
I have a pre-recorded .wav track I’m trying to create a click-track for. It has tempo-changes and I know what they are.
However, when I change the tempo, Cubase time-stretches the audio. I REALLY don’t want that. How can I stop that? How can I change the tempi without Cubase messing with the audio, please?
Johnny

Hi,

Make sure, the Musical Mode is disabled on the Audio Event.

I don’t know if this works with the Artist version, but if you play the track, hold down shift and tap the space bar to the tempo of your track, it should adjust the metronome setting without affecting the tempo of the audio track. But do what Martin mentioned first.
