Changing the time signature in a given bar

Hello,

I’m getting two different behaviours while changing the time signature of a given bar. I’m using Insert Mode so that the bar enlarges. But when I add the time signature from the panel and click on the existing time signature, only the text changes. If I place the cursor between staves, the bar changes correctly. Also if I pre-select the time signature in the bar before adding from the right-panel, it also changes correctly. So, it matters where you click and in some cases Dorico changes the text of the time signature but not the length of the actual bar. Is this expected behaviour? Thanks

Insert mode simply ensures that all bars up to the next time signature (or manual barline), will be complete. It does not necessarily enlarge anything.

That said, I cannot reproduce the behaviour you report.

Yes, I know @Janus. I was using a particular example.

Which I still cannot reproduce.

Put some music into a 4/8 bar which is not the first bar. Then, deselect everything. Now go to the time signatures panel and click/choose 5/8. Place it over the existing time signature.

Using insert mode. Must be a bug.

I can’t replicate the problem either. Are you sure you have insert mode on?
I did replicate it by clicking on the 5/8 in the side panel first (nothing selected in the music), then dropping it on the existing 4/8 time signature. I misunderstood the post I was replying to. I have never put in a time signature that way so I just did it the usual way, using the popover, where it does work as expected.

I can replicate this.

It’s different if you have the 4/8 selected first, and then click the 5/8 in the panel.
