Changing triplets to sextuplets

Hi all,

I’ve written a piece with lots of triplet figures, and am now belatedly realising that they would have been better written as sextuplets. Does anyone have any tips for making that change without going through each individual note?

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum.

It is perfectly possible to do this, but it does require a cool head.
It’s difficult to offer precise advice without seeing a score, but in general, I would approach the problem voice by voice.

  • Engage Insert mode.
  • Make a selection,
  • Filter (select) a voice, then filter (select ) tuplets and delete! (All the notes in that voice will move, but don’t panic!)
  • For each sextuplet, just select its starting note and create it (eg. ; 6:4e) - notes will progressively move back into their original positions.
  • Finally, disengage insert mode.

Good luck!

Amazing, thanks Janus! That’s worked well.
