In the 6.1 history pdf it mentions being able to specify changes in character style in project info fields. It gives the example of {@style:All Caps@}. Where do I find out what other character styles are available? Looking in the paragraph styles dialog does show a Style pull-down, but All Caps isn’t in there (nor in the Case dialog). In the online help (which I realize may have yet to be updated), I can’t find anything that tells me what other options are available to put in besides All Caps. I feel like maybe one needs to learn typography and desktop publishing to get the most from the various text options available in Dorico.
It looks like it works with a character style you’ve created if you make a token with its name? At least I tried with Title Case and it seems to work!
Edit: yes it works:
I get it. Of course it references the library→character styles. I thought it tied in with paragraph styles or something else. Thanks.
You don’t have to use it for the entire entry either as you can just enclose the text you want to change.
In project info, if you use one asterisk before and after some words, you get italic, and 2 asterisks gives you bold.
RIght, that’s because of the Resolve Markdown Formatting checkbox.
The problem with this is that it will only use the basic Italic and Bold variants. If you use a typeface with a large family, there was no way previously to use Medium Italic, Light, Black Italic, etc. with markdown formatting alone. Since I was using the Medium variant in my example, I couldn’t have Medium Italic in that same entry without manually doing it in the Page Template. Now with the Character Styles option this is easy.
