Thank you. I think your response and SkiJumpToes sum up many of my feelings… and why I stick with a mouse. 
It seems like every device I’ve ever used works fine—so long as you have the discipline to have the same CPR template. Basically, you have to commit to using Cubase like a hardware desk, with exactly the same routings all the time.
Yeah, I don’t do that. 
And it seems like I have to reconfigure the remote device every time I change ‘template’.
There are certain projects (orchestra) which are super-complex. And those are worth setting up the controller.
