How Much Longer Do We Have To Put Up With Checking Licenses - Not Responding
During start-up and throughout about every 5 minutes Nuendo stalls for 20 seconds to check licenses once an hour it crashes because of no license found.
Thank you for your reply, I really appreciate you taking the time.
My internet broadband is 1 Gig download and 50Mb upload and is working fine.
I have tried the offline activation but this isn’t really a choice for me because some of my plugins require an internet connection. So my computer is always connected, and it appears that offline licenses does not work as expected if there is an internet connection.
I have made sure my firewall is not blocking Nuendo / Steinberg online connection. To be fair, I am not sure if its an online license thing or a N12 thing, all I know is N11 works fine using the dongle.
The new licensing system actually does not go online to verify licenses unless you are activating or deactivating via the Steinberg Activation Manager. I wonder if it’s not another license query.
Can you post a screenshot of the dialog your refer to?
Have you checked your computer to see if there are dirty connections / loose cables / etc inside the computer? Is the inside of the computer dirty? How about any external drive peripherals that are, say, eSATA, and using the same buss as the operating system drive?
What computer are you using BTW? Your sig has nothing on there.
To me, this sounds like there might be an intermittent connection to the drive that stores the license.
Thank you for your reply, I really appreciate you taking the time to respond.
Below is my windows machine spec.
i am interested in your comment intermittent connection to the drive that stores the license.
Having now installed Nuendo 12, Cubase12, Wavelab 11, Spectralayers 9 and Groove Agent 5 under the new licencing system. I have never been prompted to store a license file on any of my drives.
I this file location automatic or something that is user prompted? I just assumed it was online licensing.

Correct, the new license system is not one that is checking online constantly. It does store a file on your system drive. No idea where that is, or would I ever suggest messing with that at all. Do you do any maintenance on your operating system drive? There are a bunch of SSDs on your system, maybe one got corrupted. Do you have any drive maintenance software?
