Chord Diagrams: Different voicings in one score

I make a lot of lead sheets with chord diagrams at the beginning but only chord symbols throughout. I often use different voicings of a given chord within the same score. Sometimes I can show an inversion by using a slash voicing, but sometimes I would like to be able to refer to a specific voicing in the chord index.

I have seen this done in some publications by using marks such as *, †,‡, etc. I can’t see any way to add these symbols so that they appear with the diagram. I can add a text object as a final step in my score, but that’s not ideal. Does anyone have a process for this?

Have you had a fiddle with this? NB I’m not sure if it will help…

What I’m describing applies to the chord symbol, rather than the chord diagram. Thanks, though!

Sorry for the mistake - there was lots of references to Chord Symbols and my brain couldn’t cope.

How about this?

I looked into it, but I think it’s overkill for what I’m trying to do.
