Chord font broken in Version 5.1.70.2200?

No matter what, as soon as the Font family button is ticked, I get a “missing font” error when I reopen the file.

Even with in-house font and when the font is not even changed in the drop down menu. I tried with 2 different Win11 computers and get the same result.
The image above comes from a factory leadsheet template using Bravura as musical fonts.
I compared 2 identical files in the library manager (except the ticked button), both using the exact same fonts and they are reported to use different fonts.
Dorico Pro 5.1.70.2200
Windows 11.

Did you restart your computer after updating to the new version?

Yes. On both computers. I did an uninstall too
.

Can you attach a trivial project that shows this missing font error when you reopen it here, so I can take a look?

Here they are.

chord font not ticked (working file).dorico (554.2 KB)
chord font ticked (error message).dorico (554.5 KB)

Both files are working. Only an annoying error message each time I opened it. This behaviour is for all files created with 5.1.7. Older files seem open just ok

Academico doesn’t have a “Normal” style. It has Regular, Italic, Bold and Bold Italic.

Dorico flags that your Chord Style is asking for Academico in the “Normal” style.

In the “working file”, the Chord Symbol font is set to “Regular”.

The override switch suggests that you have set the style to “Normal”, for some other font, before switching to Academico.

It is the default Dorico template as it appears without touching anything:

Ticking the family font button create the missing font error. What is the intendend logic in this behaviour? That is quite confusing… the default shows Normal but when selected it bugs…

Above that, no notification is shown when the “missing” font is selected.

You must have saved as default the “Normal” style when some other font was selected. Here’s what I have:

Anyway: to fix it: switch off the “Style” switch. It should show “Regular” after that. Then Save As Default.

There could be an internationalisation bug here. I believe Normal is the usual term used in French for Regular when it comes to font weights, right? Dorico should nevertheless be saving Regular (in English) in the project, but it appears that it isn’t doing so, at least on Windows. I’ll try to look into this as soon as I can.

Here you go!

I changed the language and the problem occurs only in french!
Projet sans titre 1.dorico (554.2 KB)
Untitled Project 1.dorico (553.4 KB)

I created the 2 files using the leadsheet template and the only thing I did is:

1-Add a Bm chord
2-Ticked the family chord font

@ Daniel: do you think it’s going to be an easy fix? …like for the next maintenance update? I’m asking because it appears that any file done on previous version that includes any font changes have the same problem once they are saved from v 5.1.70. I’m reluctant to edit and save older files at the moment…

I’m sorry, I’ve not yet had a chance to look into this, but I will do so as soon as I can and report back.
