I’m running Cubase 6.5 and wondered if there is a facility
Within the program which will allow me to play a collection
of 3,4 or 5 notes and Cubase will tell me what that “chord” is ?

Current Cubase can do this thanks to the Chord Track and Chord Pads. Older Cubase was able to read chords from the Key Editor. So once you record the notes, and place the cursor there, Cubase showed what Chord is it.
