Chord pad editor. Is it possible to not have a bass note

I don’t think they mean it in the sense of a note in a bassline. Rather they’re using ‘bass’ in the sense of the bottom/lowest note in the Chord. Every chord that has ever existed has a bottom note.
What are you trying to accomplish?
Thanks for taking the time but that’s not right.
Example a simple triad major or minor, three notes (clue in the name). You get the three notes the lowest depending on the inversion but you still have to have an extra bass note an octave lower which you can choose doesn’t even have to be a note of the chord. But what you can’t do is choose not to have this extra note.
Not have to have an extra note in the lower octave in my chord saved to a pad.
I use the Chord Track on everything but not the Chord Pads. However when I’ve looked at it it seemed to have similar controls to the Chord Track. On the Track you’d control that behavior by changing the Voicing setting. Do the pads not offer that capability? That would be annoying.
I use the chord pads a lot, luckily you can create your own chords (midi track) and save to a pad but you have to lock them.
This need to have an added bass note is quite annoying. You have to copy the chord to a midi track remove the bass note and re save it to the pad.
This has bugged me since the introduction of chord pads and I just wondered if I was missing an option to not have this extra note.
If you get a spare minute have a play and see if you can find something I’m missing.
Oh and yes you can change the voice settings.. inversion and extra notes 7th’s, 9th’s etc but you still can’t get rid of the extra bass note.
I’m not at my studio with Cubase, but I’ll take a look next I can.
On the Chord Track you can set it to 3 different styles - Piano, Guitar & Basic (I think it’s called) which is just a closed voicing of whatever Notes are in the chord. Choosing the bass Note there essentially determines the inversion, or adds a tension on the bottom if you use a Note not in the Chord.

I know you can write it using a MIDI keyboard.
Is it possible to write it without using the keyboard?
I mean my own chords.
You can drag your own chords from a midi track onto the pad. Make sure you lock the pad or it will be changed to what Steinberg feel your chord should be including a bloody bass note.
If you know, that much about chords, why aren’t you programming them?
Tools like chord pads, or tracks are not serious compositional tools, unless you are prototyping in something like Tonic.
Wrong, they are a very good creative tool for certain genres.
I often come up with different ideas using them over playing the keyboard or guitar.

There should be an option to enter chord notes manually.

Cubase doesn’t always show the notes I need.
I’m currently using loopMIDI to route from a MIDI track to the chord pad.
It works, but there should be a simpler and faster way to enter notes into the chord pad.

This is on the right track. If I change from Piano to basic I do lose that bloody bass note (thank’s). Who in steinberg decided that all piano players have to play a bass note. You can have a chord saved in different ways (Thanks for pointing me in that direction).. But I still can’t find a way to save to a pad my own custom chord without it being changed.
loopMIDI | Tobias Erichsen Install. Run.
1. Add two MIDI tracks.
2. In the first one, set the output to loopMidi and add a MIDI event with a chord.
3. In the second one, turn on the monitor.
4. Select a pad. In the chord pad, enable assign from MIDI input.
5. Press start.
Cubase will play the chord, which will be sent via loopMidi to the chord pad.
