What does “Chord Symbol Line” in the properties panel do?
It doesn’t do what I expected. Staff line below would really like to have the chord symbols a bit higher above the staff.
I thought selecting the four chord symbols and entering “2” or “3” for chord symbol line would do that. But it doesn’t. I can put three of them on a “higher” line and get this:
Here the first three are on chord symbol line “2”, F#7 is on “1”. If I set F#7 to “2” all four go back into the original position. What am I misunderstanding here? I went looking at Dorico manual and online but no luck finding any info.
With chords you can have multiple lines of chords. For example, one the standard harmony for a song and the other line as an alternate harmony. That’s what the option in properties is for.
I think what you are looking for is in Engraving Options->Chord Symbols. Scroll down to the vertical position section. I’d try adjusting the first two options. For me those defaults are 2 & 3/4 spaces, respectively, which usually work fine for me.

Thanks. That’s what I was hoping to learn. The chord symbol line is NOT for what I thought it was. Changing the vertical position in properties panel is it!
