Chord Track -> No Sound when pressing key/ clicking Chord

Hello,

I can’t get any sound out of my Chord track in C13 (M1) when either clicking the Chord symbol in the chord editor window or pressing the corresponding key.

  • Midi thruh is activated
  • there is sound when copying midi chords to the chord track.
  • chord pad output mode is on, instr tracks are on rec enable/listen mode
    thx for any ideas.
    bye

Hi,

Do you have any Instrument track in the project? Is the Instrument track selected or Record enabled or Monitored?

Hello,

Yes, as I mentioned above. Everything should be set just fine.

Hi,

Could you please attach a screenshot of the Project window?

Hello,

So i figured it has to do with the preferences in Cubase.
I erased the preferences folder and “tada” it works like a charm.
BUT what could cause that?

The same solution worked for me in Cubase 13 when I could get no sounds from Chord Pad. Thanks.

Hello HenryM, I cannot find the preferences folder in Nuendo 13 (should be the same as Cubase 13). Can you lead me to it so I can fully delete it and start anew? I did the control shift alt to get to the flash start page for this and chose the radio button for delete preferences and restarted to no avail. I think finding the folder itself and deleting it might be the only way, but I can’t find the folder. Maybe in version 13 it’s been moved? Thanks, Doug

Hi,

Nuendo Preferences folders are:
Mac: ~/Library/Preferences/Nuendo X
Win: %appData% \Steinberg\Nuendo X_64

Where the X is the Nuendo version (for example 13).

So the Nuendo X or the Nuendo X_64 is the preferences folder. There is no other “Preferences” subfolder in it.

Quit Nuendo. Delete (or rename) the whole folder and then start Nuendo again.

This deletes just the deaults.xml file, not all preferences.

Thank you so much Martin. The key for me was that there is no other “Preferences” subfolder in it (see below). Then, for some reason, after rebooting my computer five or six times and trying each time with no sound from chord pads clicking on the pad itself, on about the fifth or sixth time rebooting and restarting Nuendo, and trying again, finally, clicking on a chord pad made a sound with a few changes to inputs and outputs for the piano I was using. If I only knew what tiny detail finally got me sound. But you got me close enough to make it work. It was almost as though Nuendo had to think about it for far too long while I let it sit after that last reboot, that it made the final success seem accidental or random. Thank you again for helping me get to a solution. No thanks to Steinberg though. Peace, Doug
