I’m using chord track a lot and I frequently use a chord which when it’s played correct by the chord track must be defined Dsus4/C. But when I play C in the bass and A D G I get the chord A min 7 11/C which is not the same. It changes the notes to C in the bass and C D G B. The only way I can get Dsus4/C is to set Dsus4 manually and then change the bass to C. It would be nice to have a setting for preferred chord interpretation or to be able to choose between suggestions when adding chords to chord track from the midi keyboard.
I don’t know of any way to change that. It is a bit weird, when you hit “D-G-A”, Cubase detects a Dsus4, as soon as one adds the “C” as the lowest note, it becomes a Am7/11/C. Maybe technically not completely wrong, but wouldn’t be my first choice either. (A regular D with a C in the bass is detected as a D/C, though).
But then the chord track/editor has several peculiarities and. let’s say debatable, chord interpretations…
I forgot about that feature! But this triggers my Cubase pet peeve: UI/UX. This is a grey rectangle box with no label at all which doesn’t look like a text input box at all. So for users to find this feature, they have to either accidentally or out of curiosity hover the mouse cursor over that area long enough to show the tooltip. I mean, simply add a text label like “chord input” or “text input” and make that box look like the other text input fields in Cubase…
And then with the re-design in C13 of course they removed the ability to jump to that field with the TAB key, which you could in C12. Argh…
When I enter the notes D G A in the text field it gives a Dmaj. This feature is not accurate at all and even if it was, it still doesn’t let you choose the appropriate voicing that you want.
