Hello, I’m new to Dorico.
I need to create a part for a transposing instrument (trumpet) with chords in Concert Pitch.
I used to have a special staff for that in Finale, containing only chords (no staff lines, no notes, no barlines etc) but I dont see how to achieve this in Dorico.
Can someone help me?
Hi @mcd.65vh, and welcome to the Forum.
EDIT: see the much better method suggested by @FredGUnn in the next post.
I leave my previously suggested method here hidden, in case it could be helpful for other scenarios (click to expand)
you can duplicate the Player, and copy the music from the original player to it, activating the Chord Symbols for it, in Setup mode. Then create for it Local Chord Symbols (pressing Option(Alt) before confirming the chords with Enter: you will so have a new layout, and you can freely assign the desired player to the score. Here the video with the workflow:
Here the Manual for a deeper explanation:
You can easily do this with a Capo, even though that’s a bit nonsensical. Right-click the Trumpet, assign the Capo to be C = C, then select Show Transposed Chord Symbol for Capo. You’ll get the concert changes on a transposed part:
Here’s a very cool example of that:
Great idea, @FredGUnn! Thank you!
Thank you this is perfect !
