I have tried pro 15, but finally I purchased and installed elements 15. I noticed that the chords track in “elements” version does not exist in the key editor window. This is important to me. It is so hard to edit midi in key editor and not knowing in what chord I am. Is this available in artist version?
Hi and welcome to the forum,
No, Global Tracks in the Key Editor are Cubase Pro only.
sadly, Steinberg once decided to limit access to the Global Tracks in Cubase Eelments, as Martin correctly writes, so what is missing are the following Chord Track related features in Cubase Elements: Chord Track overlay in editors, Chord Assistant, Chord Pads advanced and visible Chord following inside the Key Editor.
Workarounds:
- either use two screens (if a second monitor is available)
- or you can use Key Editor in the lower zone to better perceive your MIDI events and an existing Chord Track at the same time.
And: you can still create Chord Events from a group of selected MIDI Notes from within Key Editor, and also quantize selected MIDI notes to a specific musical scale (if you manually switch between “Use Editor Scale” and the only rudimentary Chord Assistant).
“Follow Chord Track” does work in the Project Window.
Best wishes,
Markus
Thank you for your reply. I just installed cubase artist 15. I knew it still does not support chord track in key editor. I am just curious, how can work without knowing which is the current chord? In the key-editor window I have to check all the time the chord track above, but it is so τtiring!
I mainly work with midi and inserting note with my mouse.
Hi,
You can show the Key Editor in the Lower Zone of the Project window and see the Chord Track in the upper (arranger) part of the Project window.
