Chords with b9

Hello all - when I enter the chords “C7b9”, Dorico automatically adds a “#5” to the chord. I am at a loss for how to disable this function. Can someone please point me in the right direction? Thank you!

Below you can see I entered C7b9 and Doricio added the #5;

That sounds very strange indeed. Did you create any overrides under Library->Chord Symbols?

Jesper

(Besides the fact that the font sizes of the b9#5 are all over the place…)

We’ll need to see a file to be sure, but you almost certainly have created overrides to the default definitions. If you can cut the file down to a single bar that exhibits this behavior and post it, we’ll take a look.

It’s possible you may have redefined the 9. What do you get with a G9 chord or F7#9? Do they also have the #5? If so, you have globally changed the definition of the 9. If they are fine, it’s probably just a single override.

Hi Estigy - I agree with you on the sizes - I am trying to come up with a unified size and style I like to use as a template - this is just a test file.

YES! it was an override in Library >Chord Symbols. Even though I deleted all of my custom overrides the #5 still appeared. It was only when I selected “Reset to Saved Defaults” did the issue resolve itself. Thanks to all for the input. Greatly apprecited. :slight_smile:

Thanks, Jesper - I am also looking at FredGunn’s post which has a similar solution.
