Cleaning POOL still crashes Cubase 14.0.20

Okay, I installed Cubase 14 (the latest update) from scratch (deleting ALL my preferences and traces of version 0.10), and I only installed my own keyboard command files and plugin organization.

Cubase keeps crashing…

Every time this happens, I send the files to Steinberg through the Cubase option…

Does this mean I have to wait another 3 or 4 months for this to be fixed once and for all??

What’s the excuse now?
Cubase 14-2025-03-14-120533.ips (273.4 KB)

Mac OS Sonoma (latest version)
M1 Max
Cubase 14-2025-03-14-191530.ips (197.6 KB)
Cubase 14-2025-03-14-200420.ips (137.1 KB)

UPDATE: I removed the plugins from my Control Room, and at some point it crashed (.ips file attached).

I started Cubase in safe mode, without any 3rd-party plugins, and at some point it crashed (.ips file attached).

Hi,

I’m sorry, I’m confused with your report. The Pool is mentioned in the title, but not in the description. Are these 3 independent crashes?

No, always the same error. When i tried to clean the pool, cubase 14.0.20 SOMETIMES, crashes.

The same in C.14.0.10

NOT IN 13.0.51

Hi,

Reported to Steinberg.

You’ve recreated then? Would be nice to have clarification as it helps others to use it with caution. Not happened to me yet, but only cleared pool a few times.

Hi,

No, it works as expected on my side. But I took the description and the attached *.ips files.

It doesn’t happen all the time, but it can happen. And it can get you into serious trouble when you delete files that need to be there. Or at least it’s happened to me a few times, causing me to lose hours of work. I also don’t want to be posting the same problem on the forum every day. I want to clarify that it happens most often on Macs, and maybe it only happens on my system, but I’d like to know how to fix it.

As I said, every time I get the error, I send it to Steinberg via Cubase. NOTE: I’ll upload another .ips file tomorrow.

Hi,

I saw it in the system. If you always send it via Cubase, you don’t have to send them here. Steinberg is aware of it.

I just hope they resolve it soon! Or give me a solution.

Hi,

I’m focusing on the original title. I.e. Cubase crashes when Cleaning Pool. Could you be more specific, please? When exactly does it crash?

  • Once you move the Audio Clip to the Trash in the Pool?
  • Once you Remove Unused Media in the Pool?
  • Once you Empty Trash in the Pool?

Hi Martin. By “Clean the pool” in Cubase, I mean deleting unused media from the project. And Cubase closes unexpectedly, so the ips file is created. Sometimes, when this happens, you risk losing files that are actually being used in the project (it’s happened to me a couple of times, fortunately). I have more ips files, 2 or 3 more…

Hi,

If you Remove Unused Media, which option do you select in the upcoming dialog?

Do you:

  • Remove from Pool
  • Trash

What kind of files do you have in the Project/Pool? WAV/AIFF/FLAC? Sample Rate, Bit Depth…? Where are the files located (Documents, Desktop, Google Drive, Dropbox, Project Folder, …)?

I’ve tried both, and it’s happened with both, randomly.

The files are usually Wav files, 41, 100, or 48, 000, 16, 24, 32, and 32 float. It’s happened with all of them.

I have my projects stored on an SSD hard drive for work. I’ve also tried working on the Mac’s own drive, and it keeps happening.

Believe me, Martin, I’ve tried every means possible to figure out every possible issue. I’ve even removed all traces of Cubase and Steinberg from the system, including default preferences, and it still happened. Hence all my frustration. It’s NEVER happened to me with v13!

Hi,

Thank you for the details.
