Cleaning up a condensed layout

I have finally, after working on it for several days, reached the end of he Solo Cornet part of Bohemian Rhapsody, which is formed of two condensed staves. I have learnt so much about using Dorico and I’d like to thank everyone who has helped me.

Towards the end of the piece, two issues have arisen on which I need some expert help please. One of them will be in a different thread, but this one concerns tidying up an ugly-looking bar:

I want the first quaver in the penultimate bar to be positioned to the left of the first downstem crotchets, but I can’t select anything.

I can make the adjustments in Engraving mode, but turning on Condensing wipes them out. I tried putting the downstem notes in a separate voice but it ruins the condensing for that system. It seems Condensing can’t cope with notes in more than one voice.

Any ideas please?

In Engrave mode, you should be able to select individual noteheads even while Condensing is on. Then you should be able to adjust the Voice column index property to rearrange the notes to your liking.
(That said, having them switch places would push the notes on beat 1 uncomfortably far apart, this is in fact the correct ordering. What you might want to do though is flip the tie on the F downwards to avoid the collision.)

Thankyou! I knew I could select condensed notes in Engrave mode, but I couldn’t nudge them and I put that down to the condensing. I never thought to use the Note mover tool.

This what I’ve done, and it now more or less matches the way the original part looks. I made the bar each side a little narrower and adjusted the note positions. You are right about the order, but having the quaver on the left certainly makes it easier to read. And flipping the tie was a great idea!
