Clear notation in a measure without losing the measure

New to DoricoPro5 so in the words of “Sting”, “it’s probably me.”

I am trying to simple clear 2 measures of notes that I’ve entered into a single treble clef part. I want to end up with the 2 measure, but empty. I’ve tried deleting the notes, that only moves the notation from the next measures over into the measures that I want empty.

End result that I’m trying for…I want the 2 measures, but I need them empty.
I’m thinking that I’m missing a “global” setting in the layout structure somewhere that automatically deletes and moves timing when one goes to delete or cut notes within the measure.

Thanks for much for your help.

You likely have Insert mode activated.

Turn this off by pressing the (default) key command I, or by clicking Insert in the Notes toolbox.

Daniel, thank you so much for the prompt reply. Your suggestion was spot on. Is there a global way to turn the feature off?
Thanks
Mark

I may be wrong but I don’t think this is automatically switched on when opening a project (I just tried).

@markmusic2, I think it’s more appropriate to mark Daniels’ post #2 as the solution.

Judd,
I agree. A newbie error.
