Clefs in C Scores and Transposed Scores

I’m in a full score layout. Some of the instruments in my document are transposing instruments for example Horn in F. Dorico has toggles on the bottom left of the window where you can flip between the full score in concert pitch and transposed pitch. In the concert pitch window I want to change the clef of the horn part from treble to bass clef. However when I do so, the clef changes in the transposed pitch view as well - which I don’t want.

I also tried making separate layouts but still the clef changes I made in one layout change in the other as well.

How do you ensure a clef or clef change only applies to a concert pitch view and not a transposed pitch view or vice versa? I have been reading about clef overrides but I still don’t really understand what I am actually doing and whether or not that function is actually having an effect in my document.

More broadly, how does this inform/relate to the way it is recommended to efficiently produce C scores and transposed scores in Dorico - same document via layouts with clef overrides or different document copy altogether?

Thanks.

In Setup mode, go to Edit Instrument definition

In the clefs section you can set the desired clefs for transposing and non transposing layouts

Concert Pitch

Transposed Pitch

Thanks so much!

For some reason it is still not working for me. Perhaps I changed a setting or an override that shouldn’t have been adjusted?

Thanks!

If you still have your manual clef changes in the horn staff, you need to delete them.
