Just to verify what I am reading. In Dorico, the clefs in the score and parts will always match with the exception of being able to assign all of any part to a different clef from that in the score. But going back and forth between treble and bass clef in a different way in the score and the part (in the horns, for example. to avoid excessive ledger lines in a C score) is not possible. It’s all or nothing. Is this correct?

If you select any added clef and look in the Properties panel, you’ll see:
The name is a little confusing, but it basically controls which view the clef will appear in. If you have a clef set to Concert Pitch, then that clef will only show in concert pitch layouts, and not in transposed ones.
Edit: As @Christian_R shows, you can also hide a clef in an entire layout, which might serve your purposes here as well. This would hide the clef, for example, in the score layout, regardless of whether it is concert pitch or transposed.
Ahhh…My faith is restored. Well I was pretty far off and already anticipating various possible workarounds.
I will try both solutions and see which works best for me. Thank you @Christian_R and @asherber for the solutions. I wish I could give both of you “points”.
