Click + Drag Zooming on the Timeline Causes the Playback Head to Restart From That Point

When the project is playing and I click + drag on the project windows ruler/timeline to zoom into a part of the project, when the mouse click is released it causes the playback head to skip back to that point and start playing from there.

I want the ability to click + drag zoom on the project windows ruler/timeline without affecting the playback head position while the project is playing.

I have never found any circumstance where this current behaviour is desired, so I would personally remove it altogether. However a new preference must be implemented into Cubase to allow users to click + drag zoom on the project window ruler/timeline while the project is playing without affecting the playback head position.

For example:
Playback head follows timeline zoom location during playback - Yes/No ?

Done. Thanks for notifying me.

If you hold down Shift while you click + drag on the ruler, the project cursor doesn’t move.
Tested on Cubase 14.0.10, Windows 10.

Thanks for the info.

However it’s important to note that this is not mentioned anywhere in the “Zooming in the Project Window” section of the user manual. Steinberg needs to update the user manual.
