This is a problem that I think started in N12 or N13 and has been getting progressively worse with each update. It started with clip gain adjustments causing audible noise when they were being made (probably N12). This was never previously an issue. Then when the clip gain got redesigned in N14 I started seeing stability issues. Sometimes crashes if adjusting clip gain during playback. Now in N15 I’m seeing the previous issue but also the movement when dragging clip length is seeming disjointed as if snap was on even when it’s not.
I’m guessing some of this is coming from expanded clip level extensions and ARA being introduced, but I’m seeing this behavior even when there are no extension or offline processing on a clip.
This slow degradation of clip stability is a problem. This is the core of the workflow. Please Steinberg, put aside new features for a minute and take this issue seriously.
I realize there are tons of potential variables, but again, this has been a growing problem over several major revisions. Clip performance (including clip gain) needs to be protected. Part of why I noticed this is because for most of the life of this DAW it has been that good. Thanks for your attention to this.
