Clip Launcher - on steroids.!

SPOILER - I am nothing to do with Cognitone, nor here as a representative for any of its products.

Just had a Black Friday mailshot from Cognitone about Synfire 2… Still pricey mind (Pro edition at 545 Euro) so, no purchase here right now.

Synfire

Anyway, went and watched a couple of their demo vids - and boy, ‘Snippets’ looks fun…! Hence the topic title.

Now, the whole program seems vast and it also goes to highlight a big ‘hole’ in the current Steinberg portfolio of products - i.e. a dedicated MIDI/Phrase/Loop based composition app or tool… No, not ‘Beat Designer’ or the new Pattern Sequencer in C14.

Now, here’s my point…

All of which got me thinking - instead of re-inventing the wheel (for Cubendo users) maybe time Steinberg popped down the road (Cognitone are based in Hamburg too) and introduced themselves and seriously talked over some possible ‘strategic alliance’ or whatever between the two of them…! No scary buy-out or ‘takeover’ talks; just be friendly and think about cross-marketing and promotion maybe, or look at some ways of ‘closer’ working together to help each other out, etc, etc…?!? Start a discussion at least…

What do others think.?

By the way, I mean no disrespect to Cognitone at all and it may well be they are completely happy, just as they are, thank you very much.!!

However, I just feel in current climate it won’t be long before someone else (Apple.?) comes knocking at their door, trying to see what ‘collaborations’ could be made…

Of course, I guess there are other ‘candidates’ out there, that could fill that hole I mention above - but with this particular product/company, well, seems it would be a good fit for SB and us its customers.

EDIT:- final thought; either Cognitone, or, look at MusicDevelopments and their ‘Rapid Composer’ app for similar reasons…

I found their website & produce couple of weeks back.
Left with a headache…
Way above my “paygrade”

Hmm… I see… and so, another good talking point for SB and Cognitone to engage in…

I like this (earlier) observation too, made back in February - example of yet another good talking point…
Session View or Clip Launcher in Cubase like Bitwig/Ableton - Cubase - Steinberg Forums

Maybe such a plugin could be built between them.? Instead of ‘Cubase Sketch’ VST plugin it would be called ‘Synfire Sketch’ (perhaps for Cubendo use only at first, as part of the special ‘strategic alliance’…?!?)
