Hello Team. Hope Everyone is doing well. Quick question…I know this question has been asked before for previous Cubase version but I wanted to know if for Cubase 14 we have the ability to colorize midi notes outside of their range in the midi editor. This application is extremely helpful when writing 4 parts harmony for Choral groups in my case. I know Dorico has it but when I start composing I first like to start in Cubase and then transfer my project to Dorico. If there isn’t a way yet…can someone suggest if a macro or something could be created for this? TY Team!!
Hi,
No, you can’t do this in the Key Editor. In the Score Editor, the notes out of the range are hidden.
Sorry not getting this. What do you mean by ‘outside of their range’? Do you mean select all other notes outside of the current note range selection and colorize them? AFAIK, if you select Part in the Event Colors menu, you can select notes and colorize them but I doubt this is what you need and I doubt this color scheme would be transferred to Dorico.
Hello Stingray! Ty for helping. What I mean by “outside a vocal range”……let’s say the soprano’s range is C5-C6 so anything outside of C5 and C6 is outside of their range so I would want those notes to automatically turn red or any other color when I record them into the midi editor. . Let me know if I am making sense. I understand that I can color them after I record them but I want it to automatically have the notes turn to the color assigned when I record them. Ty for helping!!!
Excellent. Ty!! Do the notes turn color such as red when outside of the range like Dorico?
I don’t know of a way to do that with colour but you might consider instead using the input transformer to automatically and simultaneously assign different note ranges to different score editor staves and/or voices.
I see. I will look into the input transformer. Ty so much!!!
Hi.
MIDI Input Transformer doesn’t colorize the Notes.
