I think these already exist - I can do so by pressing I or O - you just have to unlink the punch in and out from the locators…

Key commands I and O are the default key commands for activating/deactivating Punch In and Punch Out points respectively (for toggling these points between on and off states).
Anyway, I trust the programming team. If they consider that having separate commands for activating and deactivating punch points is a good thing, then great. If not, c’est la vie…
