Is there a way to compare 2 Dorico files (both of same Dorico version)?
No, I’m afraid Dorico doesn’t provide any features like this at present. You might be interested in this discussion:
Just wondering if it’s still the case that Dorico 6 can’t compare two files and tell me the differences ?
Correct, that’s not possible.
Thanks
Isn’t this possible with the library manager? Or am I misunderstanding?
The Library Manager can tell you the difference between the settings in two files, but not the difference in musical content — like if you had 2 versions of the same piece and wanted to know what had changed.
I gather that Sibelius has this functionality, or something like it.
Ahh interesting.
Yes Sibelius has a feature that will tell you the musical differences between two scores, the Dorico Library Manager , I think, lets you transfer settings between files, but no compare musical differences.
Does it just say “bar 2 is different”, or does it provide more detailed analysis? If two files were the same, except for an inserted extra bar at the beginning, would it say “every bar is different”, or “they are the same, except for an extra bar in that one”.
It’s a pretty detailed report. I don’t have any example to hand, but I’ve used in the past, when an arranger has made some fixes, but forgotten what they were !
