Complete Lack of Support

I am a long time user of Cubase and have had an issue that I posted a support ticket for over 2 weeks ago. I have had no reply.

I bought the upgrade from Cubase 11 to Cubase 15 but it does not work and does not recognize the license. I have a zero run time allowance so not sure if that makes a difference but was given no clear warning that that would be an issue before buying.

Essentially, I spent a lot of money on a product I cannot use. Please Steinberg, can you help?

What would that be in the context of a Cubase license? (never heard of it, that’s why I’m asking)

it does not work and does not recognize the license

What exactly doesn’t work and what does not recognize the license?

This is a users forum

I think if you started a thread explaining what you’ve done and what’s not happening for you, maybe a little less ranty some of the kind folk here might be able to help you get going.

It’s part of the old system. Allows running any application for a certain number of hours. Usually used if the user has a broken or stolen dongle etc. Not relevant to the new licensing system at all.

Is your Cubase 11 license and elicenser registered in your MySteinberg account? What version is it (Pro, Artist etc) and what upgrade or update exactly have you bought?

Hi,

It is registered on my Steinberg and was the cubase 11 pro to Cubase 15 pro upgrade.

Thanks in advance

Apologies - it is a bit ranty. Just desperate.

Make absolutely sure you are logged into SDA or Activation manager with the same user/pass as you use in MySteinberg and explain where the installation and activation process goes wrong exactly….and exactly what is the error message saying.

Oh….and confirm if you have the dongle plugged in and if so that elicenser control centre can see the 11 Pro license and that the entry for the license doesn’t mention grace period

I would’ve thought that you don’t necessarily need the dongle if your C11 license is already registered.
However, make sure to install the latest eLicenserControlCenter, too, in case the dongle is required.

I thought the licence on the dongle got updated, too.

As far as I understand it this can either mean that the old license is also available within the new licensing system and/or that there’s an updated version at your disposal within the new licensing system. In this case, it must be the second option since C11 only works with a dongle and the old licensing system.

Maybe you are right and this shows that C11 was updated before the shutdown of the server in May?

1: 3 years later and we still don’t know how it works! Ha ha!
2: Steinberg needs to put up a definitive and clear statement.

Yes, I upgraded from Cubase 11 Pro to Cubase 12 Pro, and the 11 licence is as you can see. I think it’s so that you can’t sell the earlier licence and still keep the new. Or some such.
I don’t know.
Speaking of which, @Alex_G12r , what edition of Cubase? Pro? AI?

You don’t as they say you can update without if lost or broken….but I’m guessing it still does look for the elicenser in the first instance and then tries your account?

Yeah, that’s the question: is the eLCC + dongle still required for an update that a user can do by themselves even though the previous <C12 version is already registered?

I don’t know.
