Complex rythms in swing melody does not transfer well from midi file

I have two questions, the first is: Does Dorico Pro have the algorithms to accomplish this task? The second is, I want to move from Finale to another notation program. Is Dorico as good as it is touted?

Welcome to the forum.

I may be wrong, but I don’t think the midi format does anything other than send notes, timings and durations. Dorico has to quantise these and really would not know which notes were ‘swung’ and which were ‘straight’ or which were simply complex tuplets. But you can re-quantize sections of your midi import to suit your needs. (This common to all versions of Dorico)

I’m biased because I moved to Dorico some years ago, but YES!
Sure, everyone will find short-comings, but the pace of development is rapid and hopefully will continue.

There are many resources to help you transition from Finale.
