I am curious to know if composing with Cubase is easier than sitting at the piano with pencil and paper. Are there any problems with using Cubase to compose?
It’s a fully capable program to use for composing music, but if you are looking for a program to make sccores I would recommend Dorico. when it comes to making audio files of your compositions Cubase is a better option imo. These days you can compose in Cubase and import the file to Dorico for a professional score output, even tho you can get a decent score in Cubase’s score also if you’ve not too complicated score output.
Both programs need a little effort to handle, as you surely know.
If you have the resources to have live musicians and not be bound by electronic elements, pen and paper, by far.
If you need to bring your compositions to life via virtual orchestras, Cubase is a brilliant program.
Thanks for the quick replies. I use Dorico already and know it works very well with Cubase. I think it is time to get into the tech of music creation especially since I don’t play piano very well.
I find it easier to write piano parts in a midiprogram like Cubase; not a piano player either. Easier to edit afterwards too,and a lot easier to mix in cubase.
