Compression and noise gate while recording question

Hi, I’m getting to grips with using compression and noise gate as I’m recording a track. Once I have recorded the track using compression and noise gate, do I turn them off? I’m confused as to whether it is being compressed and gated again if I leave them on.

Cubasis comes with both real-time and offline effects.

Effect plug-ins such as compression or noise gate are non-destructive and therefore do not alter the original audio material. So lastly it is up to you or your taste to use them on existing audio material.
