This is how I deactivated the onscreen keyboard. In the Right Zone, navigate Presets - Track Presets - VST Instruments. If the Computer Keyboard Input is illuminated, your onscreen keyboard is engaged. Simply, click the icon and you deactivate it.

@JackCooke, you just saved me a lot of hassle, just got spooked after a win update when I ran into this. Can’t remember when I set that Kb switch on lately, but I just turned it off and no message anymore (I always use the num pad enter to start a song, close to the 1 and period key for fast back and forth in a loop)

This is still happening on Nuendo (and presumably Cubase) 15. I enabled the keyboard when browsing track presets, and then it also filtered my keys when I was browsing samples without any visual indication of why. This shouldn’t be happening.

Either put a button for the onscreen keyboard on all types of items in the media browser, or only filter keys where it makes sense and the button is being shown.
