Computer setup

Hi,

I am preparing my desktop to do a clean install of Windows before installing my Cubase 10.5 Pro on there.
I got two SSD’s in my machine, one of 1TB and one of 500GB.
I was wondering what setup you guys would recommend:

500GB SSD for Windows and software, 1TB for the storage of projects

OR

1TB for Windows and software, 500GB for the storage of projects

Is there a benefit of storing your projects on the same SSD as your operating system?
For now the first option seems the lost logical for me… I don’t think I’ll be needing more than 500GB for Windows and software? (the desktop will only be used for music production)

Does anybody have some advice on this?

Best,
Vincent

SSD storage is not critical in the sense of speed anymore.

So you can keep your projects anywhere you like.

Only for very heavy libraries like Kontakt I’d recommend to place these on a separate drive as much as possible.

Personally, I would budget for more than 500GB of software if you are a big user of sample libraries.

How many projects do you expect to have over the life of the machine, with how many tracks, at what resolution?
