We haven’t ruled out making it possible somehow to use the new licensing system with older products, but for those products that are actively maintained and where new versions are expected, it makes sense from our perspective to roll the work to transition the licensing system into the planned releases. It’s not necessarily the case that you will be expected to buy a major update for every product in order for them to use the new licensing system, but that is what will be happening in the case of both Dorico and Cubase. Other product teams may choose to add Steinberg Licensing in a planned maintenance release. We’ll make further announcements about this as and when we’re ready to do so.
