I’ve imported (via MusicXML) a horn concerto. The score looks fine, but when I go to the print tab, each part also includes the solo horn part. For example, the Violin 1 part is “Horn (in F) & Violin 1” - same with Violin 2, etc.
I’ve double checked under the setup tab, but there the instruments only show one part. For example, Violin 1 only shows Violin 1.
I’m still VERY new to Dorico, so it’s highly likely that I inadvertently did something, but I haven’t found any support articles to help. (It’s also likely that I don’t know how to explain the problem in terms that align with Dorico.)
Welcome to the forum, @jones.eric.f !
In Setup mode, don’t look at the Players list on the left – look at the Layouts list on the right. A layout in Dorico is basically a score or part, and each part can include the music for one or more players.
You’ll probably see that the Layouts list there looks just like the one in your screenshot above, and if you select one of the layouts, you’ll see that 2 players are selected for it on the right left. Go through the layouts and deselect Horn from the layouts where it shouldn’t be, and then everything should be the way you want it.
That was it! Thanks so much. I knew it was something simple I’d done.
