Hello,
I have a score with three trumpet parts. Trumpets 2 and 3 are going to be condensed. In several places, there are vocal effects where the players say “Shhh” and “Ahhh”. I have put these effects in as lyrics. My problem is that when the parts are condensed, the lyrics do not appear. Here is a screenshot of the un-condensed part:
And here is the same place condensed. Note the lyrics are not showing. (The text “Vocal Effect” is showing), just not “Shhh” and “Ahhh”. This happens frequently in the piece. How do I make these words appear in the condensed parts? Thanks in advance!
It works here… Could you upload a file showing the issue?

Yes, here’s a sample. Currently the score is showing condensed parts. The problem specifically is the Trumpet 2, 3 parts, measures 23, 24, 27, 28, 32, 33. There are other compressed parts in the score but they do have these “Shhh” and “Ahhh” lyrics. If you uncondense the parts, you’ll see that those lyrics are there in both parts. Thanks for taking a look and for the help.
There’s something with the voices. Your trumpets (and other brass instruments) are entered in upstem voice 2 – is it on purpose? And the lyrics seem to belong to another (green) voice:
I don’t have time to investigate more, but I found that if you select these lyrics that don’t want to condense (Shhh Ahhh, 4 times, in trumpets 2 &3), right-click > Voice > Change Voice > Upstem 2, it seems to work.

This was originally a Finale file. I didn’t do the original inputting; I just created an XML file from the Finale file and imported it into Dorico.
Ha! Yes, you are correct. Thank you. I am still at a loss as to why this was the case. Perhaps someone could explain the reason but I am grateful to have a solution. I typically don’t turn on coloring but if I had, it might have provided a clue.
