I have a recit with hidden rests in instruments. I can hide rests. When condensing instruments the rests are back. How can I get rid of rests in condensed instruments?
I feel like I’ve had success at some Condensing issues by doing the adjustments in Engrave mode with Condensing turned off.
Obviously, the “Hide rests” function isn’t available there, but you might be able to change the scale of the rests to 1% (you wouldn’t even see the dot).
Try turning Condensing off, scale the rests in each staff and then turn Condensing back on.
What is the result of this?
Good morning.
I have the same problem and I haven’t been able to solve it for a long time.
I tried to remove the pauses: nothing. I tried changing the break scale to 1%: nothing.
I tried with the condensation mode on and also off, but when I go to page view and activate condensation the pauses become visible again.
Does anyone else have any other suggestions?
Thank you very much.
When I turn on condensing, rest appear again. Unfortunately not working
yes I have tried also same… Have to switch back to Sibelius… its much easier there
might “end voice” work for getting rid of those rests?
Unfortunately, even when you finish the voice immediately, the pauses still reappear.
Good morning everyone. Not having yet found the solution for this problem, I try to propose it again by attaching a new image. I tried in all the ways described in the previous answers but no results. If anyone has any other suggestions, I would be very grateful. Thank you and have a nice day.
Personally, I think the you could solve the problem more easily by avoiding the open(?) meter. Treat the cadenza as a single tuplet (something like 10:2q) and nest the other tuplets inside.
Upload a few bars including this one and I’ll show you how.
I’m with Janus on this one. Using tuplets is a great way to keep everything clean in all parts.
Hello, thank you for the precious and highly appreciated answer. I enclose the measure concerned with my problem. I’m still trying to use the suggested technique, but if you would like to try to send me your solution I would be very grateful. I have different measures with the same cadence situation and therefore I have to find a professional solution because this song (and others) must be released soon. Again a thousand thanks and good night.

Try this… (you will have to replace the tempo changes)
Prova cadenza-edit.dorico (2.0 MB)
Ok thank you. I’m trying and then I’ll let you know if I succeeded.
The system is not intuitive but once you learn it works. Now I am able to complete the job. Again thank you very much for this great contribution.
There are a few features of Dorico that might not appear to be intuitive. But this one actually is!
