Condensing remains a mysterious dark art to me! I’m attempting to condense a Brass Quintet onto two staves in a choral piece. (Horn/Tbn/Bass Tbn on one staff).
Instead of displaying 3 discrete voices, Dorico is combining two of the voices and subdividing longer notes (ex., half note) into 4 tied eighths. (See bar 7 below - I’d like to show the Bb in the Tbn as a half note.) I’ve tried different manual condensing options to no avail. Is it not possible to display 3 or more voices in condensing mode?
Correct. You can have a maximum of one up-stem and one down-stem voice.
