I’m on Dorico 6 pro. I have my third flute doubling piccolo, which doesn’t play until measure 30. How do I condense it as flute 3 with flute 1 and 2 until the instrument change? I made this score on Dorico 5, and thought this issue was resolved with Dorico 6, and I’ve watched the video and followed the instructions but I must be missing something because it’s not working for me.

In Setup Mode drag the Flute 3 above the Piccolo. The condensing engine considers the first instrument.

Thank you @Vadian . That is how I had it set up already. Maybe I am missing something in Layout options? I’m assuming I need to check “Allow instrument changes on condensed staves” since I created the score in Dorico 5, but perhaps I’m missing something else.
To clarify: Flute three’s first note is on piccolo in measure 30, on page 8, but I want the layout to appear as flute 1, 2, 3 condensed for the first 7 pages in order to save a bit of space. Unless I have misunderstood, I was under the impression that version 6 has addressed the issue.
Or do I have to manually hide the piccolo staff and somehow change the staff label on the first staff to read Flute 1. 2. 3. for the first 7 pages?

you could force the three flutes to condense, inserting, in Galley view, an item in flute 3 (like a Chord Symbol region) on the last bar of the last system (*) in which you want the third flute to be condensed with the other two:
(In this example I added the Chord Symbol Region to bar 26 in flute 3, because that bar is, in Page View, the last bar of the last system, before the Piccolo starts playing)
(*) Actually it works also if you put the item in flute 3, just into the bar before the piccolo starts playing:
