Hello! I’m working on a Classical-era score which includes 2 clarinets in C, Bb and A, two horns in A, G, E, D and C, and two trumpets in E, D and C. I just determined that of those, only the clarinets in C, horns in A and trumpets in E are condensing - the common denominator is that those instrument keys are all listed first under their respective players (since I arranged from highest to lowest key for each). Then I was researching and saw a post from August 2023 saying that only the first instrument a player holds will condense. Is this still true today? If so, what would be the best approach to having all these instruments condense properly? Do I need to create new players, one for each instrument key? Then I can keep the original layouts so those look correct for the player, but in the full score have only the new players? Perhaps there’s a better way. Anyway, thank you very much in advance for any help!
I think you’re pretty close with the workaround. Fortunately, I haven’t had to worry about this problem yet, but from searching the forum briefly, the advice matches yours.
Thank you for the info and links!
