Condensing issue, lines become single layer

Why are these two lines

being smushed into one layer when I condense them?

It is happening in about 20 measures of the piece, and the rest of the time they end up in two layers as they should. I can’t find the proper “condensing change” to deal with this problem.

This perhaps.

This is what I get by default:

Sorry, I didnt mention that automatically the two instruments arent condensed in this passage for whatever reason, and when I apply manual condensing in the way you suggest that is what gets me this smushed-into-one-layer condensing.

Are you sure they are in different voices, as in my picture?

Jesper

You mean in the two parts I should try putting each one in its own voice?

No, in the manual condensing change.

You, sir, are a gentleman and a scholar. I for some reason thought the “hautbois" 2” was connected to the down-stem voice by proximity. Thanks!
