Condensing: pitch crossing even when explicitly forbidden in preferences. Am I missing something?

Hello,

I am delighted to use Dorico in my daily work. What a powerful tool!

But sometimes, I run across slight problems like this one.

Having forbidden pitch crossing in the flow preferences, Dorico still condenses with pitch crossing…

Is it possible to manually forbid condensing for a few bars?

TIA

As the explanatory text under the option states: “Pitch crosses are always allowed when phrases do not start at the same rhythmic position.” I suspect that is what’s happening here. Phrases that start at different positions will always use separate voices, so you will never get any unisons or stem-sharing and there will be less ambiguity about which voice is which.
