Condensing player label issues

Unnecessary player label “a2” is displayed.
In the attached project file, “a2” is indicated on beat 4.5 of b1.
When the notes of b2 are in unison, this label disappears.
Can anyone explain the cause of this?

flute 1, 2.dorico (628.2 KB)

It’s because the players split in the third phrase (change the notes to match and you will see). Dorico needs to condense whole phrases the same way and so it needs to display the a2 on the unison note. Personally, I don’t like it.

FYI, this has been already numerously reported over the years (last time was yesterday…) so you can expect it to be on the Team’s pile

Apologies for not opening your project before replying, but if you achieved this result by using manual condensing, then you’ll get more player labels.

Manual condensing generally produces more labels than if you rely primarily on condensing groups set for the layout in Layout Options, and then condensing changes where necessary to eg start new phrases from specific positions.

I understand well, thank you!
Yes, that seems to be a bit of a problem.

I found other similar problems, but I thought they were a bit more complicated…
I now understand that the essence is the same!:man_bowing:

I do not use manual condensing.
Manual condensing is still too advanced for me!:confounded:
