Condensing Problem with A4

When I had Dorico condense my score, I had a few examples of this

While I think it looks pretty darn cool, it would be a distraction for someone reading the score. Can someone tell me what I have done wrong and how to fix it? Thank you!! Dorico 6.1.10 Windows 11 Pro

Hi @sttrumpet, no mistake: this is how Dorico represents the mid phrase unisons. You have “a4” so Dorico needs to show how the notes are distributed between the instruments.

A way to avoid this if desired (but I agree that it looks cool  ) is to create custom condensing groups in Layout options > Players > Condensing, and group the trumpets in pairs or trying different combinations.

You can also obtain a separation locally using a Condensing Change, from Engrave menu, and defining a manual condensing, with 2 voices (or even 2 staves), for the instruments and places that require it.

In the condensing change you can also override the Notation Option > Mid-phrase unison:

But you may need to adjust the stem/beams lengths, and Dorico will probably split the instruments in two staves.

Here a couple of examples:
